The Clubhouse Café staffed by young adults who are currently in or have completed South Bronx United’s Workforce Development Program.

Individuals interested in working at the Clubhouse Café must be eligible for and apply for South Bronx United’s Workforce Development Program. The Clubhouse Café does not currently hire individuals from outside of this program.

The Workforce Development Program is a free 6-month career readiness program for young adults aged 16-24 who are looking to gain job experience and succeed in entering the workforce. Through the program, participants gain employment skills, complete resumes, build interview skills, and leave the program with an understanding of how to be successful in the workforce.

Participants must attend weekly workshops, generally held from 5pm-7pm, and complete training within their employment pathway as part-time employees. In addition to Cafe Fellowship to work in the Clubhouse Café, applicants may also apply for the Coaching Corps or the Education Career Fellowship. In each, they work approximately 5-15 hours per week. For many participants, the program provides their first job. Staff work with participants to gain a job by three months after the program's completion.

In addition to general job skills training, Cafe Fellows attend barista training at Devoción’s training lab in Brooklyn and are supported to complete their NYC Department of Health Food Protection Certificate.
